10 Most-Evil Nazis You’ve Never Even Heard Of

1. Oskar Dirlewanger - A Child Molester And A Necrophiliac Who Has Been Described As One Of The Most "Evil And Cruel" Of All The Nazis

Dr Oskar Dirlewanger is closely-linked to some of the worst and most-evil crimes committed during World War II - most of which were carried out by his Nazi SS penal unit "Dirlewanger".

Dirlewanger himself raped two 13-year-old girls during the 1930s and was imprisoned for it - but he was allowed out because he had fought bravely during the Spanish Civil War, meaning he could be useful to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in a military sense.

A World War I veteran, Dirlewanger's previous military experiences created the sadistic nature that he would show during World War II - and also made him an excellent soldier. It was due to this that he quickly rose up the SS ranks and was given his own penal division, which became known for its brutal and violent methods.

Mostly recruiting his soldiers from convicted criminals and concentration-camp inmates, Dirlewagner even employed mental patients - and they set about rampaging through the occupied USSR. They murdered, tortured and raped both civilians and children as they went, with Dirlewagner watching on with enjoyment. He even fed female hostages strychnine - or rat poison - in order to entertain his troops, who he would allow to rape the women as they lay dying in brutal agony.

Historians have confirmed just how evil and brutal a man Dirlewanger was. Timothy Synder explained that "in all the theatres of the Second World War, few could compete in cruelty with Oskar Dirlewanger", while Chris Bishop called him the "most-evil man in the SS", and Richard Rhodes described him as "violently sadistic". Dirlewanger is undoubtedly one of the most-evil men to have ever walked on this planet.

Captured by the French in June 1945, Dirlewanger died in a prison camp at Altshausen - likely due to to ill-treatment and beating. Although the French death certificate says Dirlewanger died of natural causes, this has been questioned, with many believing he was beaten to death by Polish soldiers who he had brutally suppressed years earlier.
