3. The Torso In The Thames

Black Dahlia
BBC

A horrifying discovery was made in the River Thames in September 2011: the headless, armless and legless corpse of a young boy floating in the water.

Detectives named the youngster Adam, though a formal identification was impossible at the time with only the torso to go off. Forensic testing confirmed he was aged between four and seven, and hailed from Yoruba Plateau in Nigeria.

Pollen in his lungs indicated that he had only been in Britain for a matter of days when he died, and a potion of sorts found in his stomach suggests he may have been the victim of a ritualistic sacrifice.

Adam's family have never been traced and nobody has ever been charged with his murder, but in 2013, a witness came forward and identified him as Patrick Erhabor.
