Annoyingly you dont ruin both shoes at the same time; if you are a regular footed skater then youll tear through the left shoe at an astonishing rate, if you are goofy then youll tear the right shoe. Even if you try to switch your stance as often as possible, youll still end up going through shoes like they were plimsolls. Yes, there are shoes with high tech gadgetry in them which will probably make them last a little bit longer, but it is inevitable that they will fall apart quicker than your casual shoes. After all, every time you do a flip trick or an ollie you are essentially rubbing your shoes against a piece of sandpaper it is hardly surprising that the life expectancy of the average skate shoe is pretty short. You are then met by an all too familiar dilemma; should you buy some cheap shoes to skate in since they are going to fall apart soon anyway, or is it worth splashing out? Each skater has their own answer to this, with some preferring a quality shoe which might (if youre lucky) outlast the cheaper alternative, and others preferring to buy plenty of cheap shoes to ensure they have a constant supply.
