At this point, anyone who has ever taken a world history class is familiar with the former Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler. Due to his horrific actions leading up to, and during, World War II, the German leader has justifiably earned a reputation as one of the most despised figures of the 20th century.

Hitler's Holocaust resulted in the tragic deaths of millions of Jews, Gypsies, and members of a variety of other ethnic groups. The event also claimed the lives of many disabled citizens, homosexuals, and prisoners of war.

The number of individuals lost during the Chancellor's rule is a hotly debated topic among historians and pundits. The Holocaust alone is said to have killed around 17 million people. Of course, if one also wanted to tack on the number of soldiers and civilians killed on the European front during WWII, then you could easily triple that number when tallying Hitler's body count.

During the end of the war, Hitler (56) shot himself in the head, to avoid being captured by the Russians.
