Plenty of superheroes have the ability to control fire; it's a common superpower without ever being the one that you'd pick first, unless perhaps you live in a cold country. Most gangs of heroes have at least one guy with a fire-related power, Johnny Storm, AKA the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four, has the full package. He can spontaneously combust, conjure fire, control any fire near him, or form himself a protective, flaming shield. Whilst he's obviously immune to the heat of this ability though - apparently, so are his clothes - the world around him isn't; there has to be troubling early days for anyone with the Human Torch's powers, when they learn how not to set their house, their loved ones and even their dinner on fire. Most pyrokinetics in fiction simply exert fire from their hands, and that's it; whilst the Human Torch boasts the real deal of fire-related abilities, he's also susceptible to ruining the world around him. I'm sure it's great when you get the hang of it, but pyrokinesis is the bane of your life to start with.
