The Assyrians may have been the first to record an apocalypse prediction with a tablet written between 2800 and 2500 BC. The text states that the world is falling apart as it was full of corruption and unruly teenagers. This was leading to the end of the world, an end that was coming soon.

However, the Assyrian empire lasted for about 2,000 years and reached its peak a few centuries after this tablet was written, negating the urgency with which the writer thought the world was ending. It it unknown who wrote this tablet though, so it may have been more of a personal view than a widespread myth.
