The results were surprisingly revolting. The uvula is that little flap of flesh that hangs down right at the back of your mouth. Nobody's quite sure what exactly it does all day, but because it is pretty much unique to humans, some scientists think that it has something to do with speech. As the video demonstrates, it also flaps around like some kind of maniacal worm when you gargle your morning mouthwash. It's weirdly mesmerising.
