9. Superman Explores The Batcave

In the grand and storied history of superhero bromances, Batman and Superman stand above them all. It's the old "opposites attract" adage put to the test: there's Batman, the glowering demon of the night, and Superman, the optimistic boy scout of America. A match made in Spandex Heaven, right? But writer mithen takes this bromance a few steps (okay, leaps) further in "More," an appropriately-titled opus about the bright, shining day that Bruce and Clark swept pretense under the rug and gave in to their darkest, most animalistic desires. After saving Batman from the captivity of Poison Ivy, Superman can no longer contain the Kryptonite tower rising inside his suit, and the chips are unceremoniously laid down. What makes this particular shattering of innocence so potent is the paperback romance level of detail that the author injects into the proceedings. You get lines about how Batman's lips " faintly of honey, of grass," and how Superman can't help "exploring the other man's mouth with his tongue, gently at first, then urgently, greedily." Robin would undoubtedly be heartbroken.
