6. Every Department Store Comes With Elves

Every shopping centre or department store has its own Santa's grotto with a queue of excited children and sometimes equally excited grown-ups. What a shame that all that excitement has to come with elves. There are two types of department store elf and both are just as awful. There are the "I just love Christmas" over-enthusiastic elves who are determined to force festive joy into everyone's lives, and then there are the out-of-work actor elves who hate themselves for donning that costume every year. Quite which is the more annoying is difficult to gauge.
