13 Live Observations From The LEGO Factory & Museum Tour

Inside the empire built brick by tiny brick.

In celebration of the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I was lucky enough to be invited to Billund in Denmark to meet the development team, play the game, and most excitingly, to see behind the magical curtain at LEGO. That included a trip to the LEGO Ideas House and also mecca itself, the LEGO Factory.

Being there feels very much like a privilege (particularly as this is all likely to change as soon as the new LEGO House opens), and it's very hard to contain the inner child, even when you're walking around a factory in a deeply unglamorous high-vis jacket.

And it's very much a tidal wave of information, from the history of the brand and its development into what it is today to seeing how the bricks themselves are made. Seeing both sides cuts an incredible image of growth from the smallest building blocks.

So what can you see and learn on the Factory and LEGO Ideas House tours?

13. There Are Lots Of Little Easter Eggs

LEGOLand Gandalf

All throughout LEGOLand there are Easter Eggs in the builds, including favourite characters doubling as others in the Haunted House. Or little gags like the urinating dogs you'll see in a couple of places (one of which in LEGOLand actually pees)...

Or the naked figures you see around the place (including hauntingly well crafted buttocks)

Or the disappointed kid who dropped their LEGO ice cream...

Basically, the more you look, the more you're rewarded.
