Sometimes, the kid with the best costume has the craziest parent €“ you know, the one from the PTA meeting who demanded that all snacks be replaced with fruit and all the drinks be sugar-free substitutes? Granted, these parents hand-craft some amazing costumes, the Harry Potter and Dobby duo above are an example of this of handy work, but they sure are competitive.

The official term for these people is "helicopter parents", because they hover over their kids all night, holding one kid on each hand either side of them like blades on a helicopter. They might not be wearing a costume, but that's irrelevant to them as long as they can shield their babies from the ghosts and ghouls of the holiday.

Their child is certain to receive the most candy with them shooting death glares at the neighbour who is frantically piling more and more candy into the child's sack. God forbid they lose the costume contest, because there will be a demand for a recount.
