13 Problems Only People From Jarrow Will Understand
8. The Tyne Tunnel Traffic
Jarrow has the privileged of being right on the south bank of the river Tyne, and is therefore the esteemed location of the Tyne Tunnel's south entrance. This means three things: traffic jams, construction work, and huge petrol tankers passing your window on a Monday morning. On the plus side, it does make getting across the river that little bit easier - as long as you're willing to pay the £1.60 fare. Many would rather take a slight detour and cross the Tyne Bridge for free. The bridge also has the advantage of leading directly to Newcastle, while taking the tunnel means you'll end up in the decidedly less glamorous Howdon.
