13 Most Ridiculous Deaths In History

12. Betty Stobbs - Sheep

When you think of sheep, the chances are that you most certainly do not think of cold-blooded killing machines. We're used to images of woolly jumpers, Greek food and Wallace & Gromit, but apparently, put them in a field together, and there's every chance that once in a blue moon, they'll plot together and turn on us. Okay, so maybe not plot, but still, this is more or less what became of 67 year old Durham sheep farmer Betty Stobbs in 1999. Stobbs was delivering food for her flock on the back of a motorbike - which sounds pretty cool for a 67 year old farmer - when she was set upon by her fluffy attackers. The sheep, excited by the bale of hay perched on the back of Stobbs' bike charged towards her, knocking her clean off the vehicle. Unfortunately, this all happened to be taking place on the edge of a cliff which led into an old quarry, meaning that instead of a comparatively easy 3ft fall to the grass below, Stobbs tumbled down a steep rock face. Funnily enough, it wasn't the fall which killed Stobbs, as she miraculously survived that particular part of the ordeal, but her freakishly poor luck arrived again, just seconds later, as the bike - which had also been pushed over the edge - fell on top of her. I understand that sheep are supposed to be stupid animals, but if this is the sort of evil the flock is capable of, I'm glad we make hideous jumpers out of them.
