14 Internet Memes We're Totally Obsessed With Using

7. "True Story"

Gathering around for a delightful and doughty conversation with friends and family is mostly a blast, depending on the conversation of course. The interactions between one person and the rest can go in any number of ways, and sometimes the results can be both harrowing and staggering. A conversation can quickly turn into a story of truth, whether awesome, shocking, or horrible, and leave the rest of the party with their mouths hanging down past their waists. Only then do the words "True Story" mean something. Part of the beloved Rage Comics, and a direct illustration of Neil Patrick Harris from How I Met Your Mother, "True Story" is the ultimate meme to use when discussing theories, funny moments, and. . .well. . .true stories. The "True Story" punchline is usually delivered after a comical and hilarious story has been told, ending with Neil Patrick Harris's famous posture and wineglass. Honestly, who hasn't run across somebody who dropped the meme after a good tale or two at a get-together? Its influence is undeniable, and it can even be agreed upon that the lines between saying the words "true story" and the actual meme are certainly blurred. Some may not even know about the meme, and still stick along with the words. It's a clever form of media adaptation that most memes don't easy pull through with, and "True Story" is one of the few exceptions.
