Running a marathon is an incredible achievement. It takes motivation, dedication and a lot of hard work. As well as physically preparing yourself for being able to run the distance, you also need to be in the right emotional and mental state, otherwise you're setting yourself up for a fail before you've even crossed the start line. But don't worry, because you're ready and it's almost race day. You've got this. On the day you'll be surrounded by other runners who may or may not have the same running experience as you and it doesn't matter what position you come in, as long as you cross that finish line without an injury. Your fellow runners are sort of like your team mates and a few words of encouragement to one another can really help, and so can the thought of your loved ones waiting for you at the finish line. So with the Great North Run taking place this weekend, runners, don't forget to enjoy yourself! On the lead up to the big day, here are some thoughts that you will have no doubt had in preparation for race day.
14. "I Got This"
You'll feel confident and if worst comes to worst, you can still walk it and finish - but you might not be everyone's best friend if you walk the whole way when you're supposed to run. You feel strong, positive and almost invincible at this stage. You have a clear goal in mind, you just need to make it to the end. Easy peasy.
