15 Mind-Blowing Cat Facts You Need To Know
12. The Oldest Cat Was 38 Years Old
If you think you're a phenomenal cat mother/father, then compare yourself to Jake Perry.
The Austin, Texas native was the proud owner of a Felis catus cat called Creme Puff, who is the Guinness World Record holder for being the oldest cat to have ever lived. The feline was born on 3 August 1967, and lived for a staggering 38 years, sadly passing away on 6 August 2005. After her passing, she was awarded the 1999 Cat of the Year award courtesy of the Cats & Kittens magazine.
What's perhaps the most shocking thing about this is the fact that the owner of the record-breaking cat was also the owner of the previous record holder. That cat, Grandpa Rex Allen, was born in Paris, Texas in 1964, and sadly passed away in 1998 at just over 34 years.
En route to becoming the oldest cat alive, Creme Puff lived off a diet consisting of dried cat food, alongside broccoli, eggs, turkey bacon, and cream-filled coffee. According to her owner, this diet is what allowed Puff to live as long as she did, as well as her staying as active as possible.
A fairly simple method for ensuring your domestic cats live their best lives.
