6. Pregnant Midge
Barbies little known best friend Midge was initially released in 1963 and in 2003, she was given a husband called Alan who gave her what every little girl dreams about and thats a baby. The Happy Family line came with Alan and a pregnant Midge. Midge had a magnetic womb with a tiny foetus inside, so you could playact all the pains and pressures that come with any pregnancy. As you would expect, some parents had serious problems with the toy because they thought it encouraged teenage pregnancy. Im sure some parents were also upset by the uncomfortable questions kids might have asked about how the baby actually got in there. They were also annoyed by the fact that Midge was not wearing a wedding ring even though she was up the duff but Mattel quickly fixed this. It led to the bastions of wholesome America, Wal-Mart pulling the line after complaints from customers.
