3. The Ballys
Bally as a prefix simply means 'town' and there are a surfeit of towns beginning with 'Bally' in Ulster including Ballyclare, Ballymena and Ballycastle. Probably the best Bally in Northern Ireland is Ballymoney. This little town in County Antrim is full of remarkably friendly and down to earth people. It is notable for producing the Dunlops - Robert and Joey - who were major players in the world of motorbike racing and both died tragically young in accidents. Ballymoney is also highly recommended if you are shopping for shoes. The other Ballys have their charms but Ballymoney is the Jewel of County Antrim. Not even Ballybogey could hold a candle to it.
