That was the rule. As soon as it got dark and the street lamps came on, it was time for you to say goodbye to your friends and head home. Your mum would usually be waiting for you at the door, screaming your name and that was that; you didn't have a mobile that she could call you on and if you were late, you were in trouble. You even had your boundaries. You knew that you were allowed to go as far as the tree at the bottom of the street but you weren't allowed past the alleyway and even if you snuck into the woods, your mother would always know. Always. It wasn't worth the risk.
