20 Freakishly Specific Predictions From History That Came True
8. Russian Scientist Dmitri Mendeleev Created A Forerunner For The Modern-Day Periodic Table (1869)
Dmitri Mendeleev, a Russian chemist, conducted research into the Periodic Table of Elements during the 1860s. At the time, only 60 of the eventual 100 or so elements had been discovered. However, Mendeleev developed a pattern whereby he organised the elements by atomic weight (as well as other properties), and he then noted gaps in the table and what potentially could fill them. Mendeleev correctly predicted the properties of at least eight further elements - which he named in Sanskrit - including gallium (Ga) and germanium (Ge) that were then discovered in 1875 and 1886 respectively.
