20 Greatest Roller Coasters In England

18. The Swarm - Thorpe Park

Opened: 2012

Manufacturer: Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M)

Type: Wing Coaster

Thorpe Park is a contender for the UK's best theme park, since its line-up of roller coasters and thrill rides is truly impeccable.

Thorpe Park's most recent coaster is the UK's first B&M Wing Coaster and has already asserted itself as one of the country's most acclaimed and well-known roller coasters.

Many were probably expecting to see this higher on the list; unfortunately, the short ride length and lack of forces prevent this from rising further on this ranking but it is still a very, very fun ride that more than compensates for those shortcomings.

It is a wonderfully smooth experience that really makes you feel like you're flying and the ride interacts with its superb post-apocalyptic theming in a very clever way which leads to some great head-chopper and foot-chopper moments.

For a few years the last two cars on this ride were turned backwards in order to provide a backwards ride, but thankfully that was removed later on since that was not a pleasant ride experience and instead of being exciting it just made you very, very dizzy.
