20 London Attractions You Need To Visit Before You Die
8. Hunterian Museum
The Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons is a quirky museum that might not be to everyone's tastes despite the excellent presentation. With thousands of well-preserved anatomical specimens, the Hunterian Museum is a perfect destination for anyone with more than a passing interest in medicine and biology. Rather than being a creepy, dusty collection of pickled innards, the Hunterian Museum shows off its various oddities inside sparkling clean, well-lit glass cases. One of the main attractions is the skeleton of Charles Byrne, the 7 ft 7in "Irish Giant", taking precedent in the centre of the hall. Along with many examples of surgical instruments from history, the Hunterian Museum is also home to the Evelyn tables, which is a set of four of the oldest anatomical preparations in Europe. It's not for the queasy, but the Hunterian is a fascinating place for anyone looking for a retreat from the usual Natural History Museum crowds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFkAS3ZSnzg
