10. Waiting Years For A Boring Bridge

Commuting into Derby city centre isn't much fun at the best of times but the closure of London Road made things that much worse for anyone coming in from the south of the city. Still, the old bridge needed fixing sooner or later, and Derby folks displayed their patience and endured the wait and the extra hassle of queueing down Pride Park until it was done. Unfortunately anyone hoping for an impressive structure was left disappointed by one of the most boring bridges of all time. Ordinarily most people couldn't really care less about a bridge (just so long as it can hold the weight on it) but after the long wait there was hope for something a little more impressive looking. Perhaps something more akin to the futuristic-looking bridge near Cathedral Green. Which no one ever seems to use.
