15. School Trips
David Jones/PA Archive/Press Association ImagesObviously school trips have always occurred and will always occur, but such escapades taking kids to the more "homely" destinations are becoming less and less frequent. These days, kids are more likely to visit a modern science museum or a state-of-the-art theme park than a quiet little village in the country or a farm. There was nothing quite as exciting as getting a packed lunch and a little bit of pocket money (to spend on a key-ring or something similar) and getting on a bus with your little friends.
14. Family Holidays During Term Time Without Parents Being Punished
reactiongifs.comRemember when families could go on holiday whenever they wanted without being reprimanded? Those were the days. The excitement of missing a couple of weeks of school and subsequently returning to tell your friends all about it the day after you landed back on home soil was palpable - but those days are gone. Parents are now actually punished for taking kids out of school during term time and have to actually ask for permission (which is usually denied) in order to potentially do so in the first place. Absolutely crazy.
13. The Novel Fads
Every generation had its fads - and ours were undoubtedly the best. Remember Pogs? Those little picture discs that everyone collected but hardly anyone knew what to actually do with? And what about Tamagotchis? It was a hard slog trying to make yours live longer than your friends'. And what about Trolls? Those creepy little plastic dolls with bright coloured wild hair? And waiting for those aliens in gooey eggs to get pregnant was far more trouble than it was worth!
