11. The Creators of Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan and Winnie The Pooh Were All Cricket Club Teammates
As well as appearing in 10 first-class matches for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) between 1899 and 1907, Conan Doyle also played alongside JM Barrie and AA Milne from the amateur team the Allahakbarries. The creators of Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh respectively, the trio were teammates for the team which was initially created by Barrie. Conan Doyle's highest innings was against London County in 1902, when he made 43, but he took just one first-class wicket during his career - the prize one of 22-Test England all-rounder WG Grace.
