Potential traveller delusion (or PTD as it should be known), is created by a common misconception among large swathes of society that suggests life abroad is so cheap that one can live in the lap of luxury for practically nothing. We have all tried and failed to temper the unrealistic demands of those customers who heard from their mate Cheryl, that her best friend€™s, aunt€™s, third cousin twice-removed got an all-inclusive trip to Barbados for fifteen quid and got bumped up to business class on the way back. Now they want the same deal. It often involves a great deal of reassuring words, polite explanation and half-hearted searching only to prove in a professional way what you could have explained in two seconds by saying €œAre you having a laugh?€ Sadly, they rarely are.
