20. The First Use Of "OMG" Was In A Letter Written To Churchill In 1917
Thought "OMG" was a phenomenon created in the 21st Century by youngsters texting one another? Wrong! It was actually first used in a letter written by British Navy Admiral John Arbuthnot "Jacky" Fisher to Churchill in 1917. The last line reads:
"I hear that a new order of Knighthood is on the tapis - O.M.G. (Oh! My God!) - Shower it on the Admiralty!!"
The letter, now kept in the US Library of Congress, proves that "OMG" was used a full 85 years before anyone ever thought it was...
