The internet is the most instrumental tool in connecting humans from around the world, smashing time-and-space-based barriers, and allowing the free exchange of ideas and opinions. This has created a degree of freedom of thought and ability to interact with people like never before, with the world literally at one’s fingertips.

With the Internet it has become possible to do things that weren’t conceivable even thirty years ago. Now, someone with internet access can communicate with someone an entire world away. Emails can be sent from someone living in Vancouver to someone in London and the recipient would receive that message in a matter of minutes. That almost-instant communication has led to an absolute revolution in how information is exchanged.

And it’s not just personal information. Businesses, banks, online magazines, schools, armies, governments and even the entertainment industry have all taken advantage of the internet and have birthed a new age of interconnectedness and exchange of information.

There’s a reason why this new age is perceived to be moving faster than ever before. In decades past, for some kind of change to take place; it would have to take years for it to be seen everywhere and for it to be adopted in enough places. With the advent of the Internet, companies can release a product sample, and within a matter of minutes, someone on every corner of the planet has seen it.

This interconnectedness is the defining feature of the new age, and arguably the greatest invention of the modern age.
