Great human endeavour and survival has met with punctuating explosions of tragedy and triumph in equal measure, though it has sometimes been hard to see the positive through the mire. They say that a picture says a thousand words: sometimes, they actually do a lot more than that. Photographers around the world have caught the rawest moments of human emotion, of Herculean achievement and effort and of profound political and social importance and that deserves to be celebrated. 30. Woman Of The Year
66 year old Caitlyn Jenner was presented with the Transgender Champion award at American Glamour's Women of The Year awards earlier this year.
"When it comes to gender, everyone in this room is on a journey. We are constantly learning and growing as human beings learning about ourselves, but there is a second part of this population when it comes to gender. There is massive confusion deep down inside."
