22. The House That Floated
After seeing his house flooded previously from torrential rain, Sam Notaro of Somerset, England built his own flood defences and most have been particularly proud of himself this year when his house survived the pour down that defeated the landscape around him.
Heavy rain, wind and snow swept across the UK this year. The government have now pledged £20m for a 20-year flood action plan which has helped the residents in the affected areas to be more optimistic for the future.
Maybe they should consult with Mr. Notaro on how best to spend that money!
