The jewel in Universal Studios Hollywood's crown is almost certainly the Backlot Tram Tour.

Guests can take a 45 minute ride behind the scenes of the movie making business. Visitors travel around the sound stages and onto the backlot of the working film studio.

In their article on the park's expansion, the LA Times also commented that there were plans to remove and update huge sections of the tour.

Admittedly some of the scenes are a bit dated. Even though it is particularly impressive, the crash site from the 2005 War of Worlds movie belongs to a film that nobody really cares about anymore. The scene is there more as an example of just what can be done, rather than for the movie it was from.

According to the LA Times, Universal have plans to remove not just this scene, but also some classics. It seems that the Bates Motel and house from "Psycho" aren't even safe from removal, neither is Jaws. Although they do suggest that even if they were removed, they could simply be relocated.

Whatever happens to the tour, lets hope it doesn't completely lose sight of its main point. It is a peek behind the scenes of the tv and film business.
