6 Examples Of Human Kindness

Photos by London's leading photographer Alex De Mora

For anyone travelling around the world with the intention of immersing themselves in new experiences and understanding the rich diversity of cultures, it becomes clear that the most exciting and defining element of any place is the people who live there. Art and creativity are the tools which empower inhabitants to express the identity and ideas which exude from the landscape around them, and the intertwining of historical and contemporary influence. Generator Hostels have emerged over the last few years to provide travellers with stylish, affordable, boutique style accommodation across 9 - soon to be 12 - of Europe's most desirable and culturally rich cities, including London, Paris, and Barcelona. The London based firm founded by Patrol Company pride itself on not only crafting aesthetically pleasing shelter to throes of 18-35 year olds who stay with them every week, but also look to create environments which are conducive towards the collective sharing of art, expression and imagination. It is a mash of attractive well kept buildings, incorporating well thought out vibrant public spaces which really separate Generator Hostels away from both that of plain characterless hotels, and low end budget hostels. Drilling down further in to the idea of using arts to improve society and share vision, Generator have recently launched their online magazine Parallel. This publication utilises the presence which Generator Hostels hold within the urban communities of their different cities, and help connect, inspire and bring together artists, travellers, and cultural junkies. Don't think this is arts for art sake however; Parallel's main focus is to use the collective will of these people to showcase the kindness and generosity found within society as a whole. It's to promote humility and give a platform for a positive portrayal of what can be found within even the most hardened city areas. Recently Parallel have come together with renowned London based photographer Alex De Mora to give a re-imagining of the sometimes hostile and unfriendly perception of the English capital and of Londoners themselves. The photo shoot gives an insight in to the kindness and generosity of people who opt to provide rehoming for rescued animals from the local area, and the background stories to each new friendship that has been formed between pet and owner.
