6 Stargazing Sights You Have To See

5. The Pleiades

This is the star cluster most visible to the naked eye. The stars that make up the cluster are highly luminous and shine with an intense icy blue.

Appropriately this icy patch of sky is best viewed during the winter months. To locate it look for the constellation of Taurus the bull and hone in on the €˜shoulder€™ area. Many cultures throughout history have regarded the Pleiades as being special in some way due to the strikingly beautiful appearance of the stars it contains. In Greek mythology the stars represented the seven sisters, however to see seven stars in this cluster you€™ll have to find a very dark location with very little light pollution. With their rich history and brilliant blue colours the stars making up the Pleiades cluster are well worth looking out for!
