7 Unsolvable Mysteries (That We Can Totally Solve)

1. UFO Sightings

Why is it that so many UFO sightings and alien abduction stories are so consistent with one another? Surely this must indicate that there's something in it, if completely unrelated people are reporting similar experiences?

Aliens often take steps such as flybys, scouting trips, and even short-term abductions and experiments on humans and animals. Oddly enough, the kind of behaviour exhibited by aliens seem to perfectly match a document put out by the US military entitled "Seven Steps to Contact," outlining the procedure we should follow, should we discover intelligent life on another planet. Did they get their inspiration from our otherworldly visitors?

The first step we would take would be to conduct remote surveillance. The next few steps would be to make flybys and near approaches, occasionally touching down in isolated spots to get the lay of the land. We would take samples of the local wildlife for analysis and perhaps even taking a closer look at the intelligent beings too. After this, we would begin to make our presence known by approaching in ships and demonstrating as effectively as possible that we mean no harm, whilst at the same time staying out of harm's way. Finally, if they haven't tried to shoot us down by then, we'd reach out to make some kind of diplomatic contact.

Did the military get their ideas from otherworldly visitors? Unlikely, seeing as the release of the document predates the first UFO report by about seven years.

It's thought that this procedure actually seeped into our collective conciousness over the next few years, either directly or via pop culture and, as we built up a subliminal idea of what alien contact would look like.

There we are, the universe just got the little bit less mysterious.
