5. Free Drinks Customers
I like to divide my bartenders into two groups, bartenders that give away free drinks and those that don't. Free drinks are an interesting part of the bartending industry, because cheap and free drinks are part and parcel of the industry in order to keep people happy and enjoying themselves. However, bars still need to make money, and bartenders get fired for giving free drinks away. So by asking for a free drink, you are essentially asking for a bartender to risk their job just because you are too much of a tight arse to pay for your next shot. Most bartenders will give out free drinks, mainly to friends that they know or co-workers who have the night off, because you know these people and they have usually made the effort to be there as opposed to being anywhere else in the world. As a general rule of thumb, this usually means that if you have to ask, then chances are you aren't getting one. These freeloaders include people that come up with the following excuses; the 'birthday shot' girls, the "but I've spent so much money here already, surely I can get a free drink" people, the "hey, aren't you the guy that is my sister's friends cousin that I met at that party. Hook me up with a free drink" among others. The commonality between all these people is that they think they deserve something free for merely existing most of the time.
Standard Order - "Woo!!! Birthday!!! Birthday Shots. So it's my friends birthday, what shots can we get for free?!"
