8 Infuriating Customer Types Every Bartender Knows

4. The Drunk

Barney This person can not handle their alcohol. They say that they are fine, but in reality the more they argue, the more they prove your point. The fact of the matter is when they can't handle their alcohol, law requires bartenders to stop serving them alcohol. Look at it this way, we exist to sell alcohol and only have brief moments to scan for whats going on. If we have cut you off, chances are that we have spotted something in your behaviour that has suggested that you've had enough to drink and we've made the split-second call to restrict your flow of alcohol. We may occasionally get this wrong, but fighting us isn't going to improve that image that we have of you. Besides, we are usually spot on when we recognise the signs of being drunk because we deal with drunk people on a regular basis, and being aggressive is usually a good sign that we got it right. While it generally isn't a great idea to cut people off, there are times when it is eventually called for and it's never a pleasant situation. Standard Order - "I'm not drunk. Thats bullsh*t, I'm completely sober" Rant descends into curse words as they are being dragged away by the bouncer.
