6. Dodgy Pacemaker Makes Woman Faint When Not Upside Down

A couple, exclusively referred to somewhat anonymously as Mary and Jason, were seen marching through the front doors of ER. The man, said to be around seven feet tall had no trouble carrying his wife - upside down, by the ankles. At first the staff were outraged, until Jason explained that he was keeping her conscious. Mary had had heart problems and, the day before, a pacemaker had been implanted. She'd been released in the morning. However, soon problems emerged. Upon fainting at home, Jason placed his wife in bed. "She regained consciousness for a few seconds. She tried to get up but went out again." Mary added, "If Jason puts me in bed or upright, I faint again ...we've tried it four times, and every time he changes position I go to la-la land." Eventually the doctors figured it out. The pacemaker wire going to Mary's right ventricle had disconnected. It reconnected every time she was held upside down. After corrective surgery, the duo were good to go - both upright.
