I'm not a typical type A person, but in my desire to make sure that everyone had a good time I became obsessed with planning each day out. With the majority never stepping foot in Universal Orlando Resort before I felt that I had needed to take control to make sure they experienced everything.

It was only day 2 of the trip and my plans began to unravel thanks to the Florida rain. I quickly realised that although having the day planned out does help, you have to be prepared to change your plans for the sanity of everyone.

I spent time creating an itinerary and highlighting restaurants and what parks we should do on which day. The group loved having an itinerary. A day without a plan would have probably caused us to descend into chaos. Each day the we knew where we were going to go that day, or if it was a rest day.

I learnt that although the plan was helpful, at times we needed to deviate. As fatigue from the heat set in we started planning in more time by the pool. After a few days we had more early nights to rest tired legs.

Come up with a plan but expect it to change, after all spontaneity is much more fun.
