9 Animals With Creepy As F*** Horror Movie Powers

6. The Ectoplasmic Hagfish

What with all the Ghostbusters hype (or hate), it would be almost rude not to give a shout out to this real-life ectoplasm machine.

Hagfish are ancient, amazing and straight up disgusting. Above all else, they are the master of slime - a title few will probably be desperate to wrest from their gooey hands.

Not that they have hands.

Anyway, when threatened, the hagfish can produce literally litres of slime in a matter of minutes. Seriously, watch the video, it's gross. The purpose of this ectoplasmic eruption is to both make it harder for anything to get a grip on the hagfish, but also to clog the gills of ay attacking fish, effectively drowning them in slime.

As if any more proof were needed that these were knock-offs at the nightmare factory, they have been around for 330 million years old, they are blind and jawless, and eat by burrowing themselves headfirst into a rotting carcass, can go months without eating and can also absorb nutrients through their skin.

Oh yeah, and this is what they look like when you dissect them
