3. Flatland: Higher Dimensional Beings

Speaking of screwy dimensions, another theory as to why the sky isn't teeming with aliens, is that they're all in a different dimension - technically all around us, but we just can't see them.

Well isn't that frustrating?

If you imagine that there is a two-dimensional being in front of you, if you looked down at them from above, you would be able to see them, but they would have no idea that you were there because they have no concept of "up".

The same could be true of four-dimensional beings (or even three-dimensional beings if it the universe does turn out to be a hologram), looking down on us from their "up".

Maybe this is where our ideas about the paranormal or even the divine come from. The voice of a being speaking from the higher dimensions would appear to come from within and a three-dimensional protrusion of a four-dimensional being into our world would look like an ever shifting 3D shape moving through empty space before disappearing. What if these were what we call ghosts and gods (I mean, they probably aren't, but what if)?
