9 New Technologies That Are A Sci-Fi Fan's Wet Dream
6. Matrix Style Learning

Okay, it's not exactly the same as plugging yourself in and downloading some sick kung-fu skills, but researchers at the HRL Information and System Sciences Laboratory in California having been looking into ways of using brain stimulation to enhance learning abilities.
The system works by identifying which part of the brain is involved in the learning process (this varies from person to person) and stimulating it to increase the production of neural connections and enhance neuroplasticity.
The scientists found that the technique allowed test subjects to learn how to pilot an aeroplane 33% more effectively than their unstimulated counterparts.
Unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as just placing information into the brain and you still need to go through the process of learning the skill. The advantage is that this process is much more effective within a much shorter period of time.
It is hoped that it could have applications in language learning, exam prep and, yes, pilot training. Sadly, you might still have to learn kung-fu the old fashioned way.
