Roaming Chainsaw Gangs

The chainsaw wielding gangs are as synonymous with HHN as Butterbeer is with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The sound of the chainsaws can be heard echoing around the park. The perfect soundtrack some might say to a night at HHN.

Similar to Twisted Tradition, on my first walk through of Springfield (their usual hangout) I was slightly disappointed. There appeared to be only 2 chainsaw wielding performers in the whole area. Being new to the event I assumed that I had perhaps built up the area to something bigger than it was, but I overheard someone else saying that the area seemed unusually quiet.

On my second walkthrough of Springfield there were quite a few more and I watched as they stalked guests. Jumping out at them as the crossed the bridge from the London area. However the San Fransisco area, the other hangout of the clowns, was again very sparse of scare actors.

Subsequently I have seen videos of the areas with decidedly more chainsaw wielding carnies so perhaps I got unlucky. As with the houses, it is worth walking through the scare areas more than once. You might just walk through during a cast change and miss out on some of the fun.

I loved the costumes the scare actors wore. This year the Chainsaw gangs were designed to be a part of the Carnival Graveyard crew. Carnies who had broken free from the constraints of the maze to terrorise unsuspecting guests as they walked to the back of the park. They looked less like traditional clowns and more like general circus performers.

The scare actors themselves were great. When they were in greater numbers you could watch them team up with each other to get the perfect scare. One would frighten a guest, causing them to veer unexpectedly into the path of another waiting chainsaw.

I'm sad that I didn't get to see both the areas in full flow because the scare actors were great, as were the costumes. I think I just got unlucky.
