10 Idiotic Decisions Made By Former Newcastle Players

7. Pretty Much Everything Nile Ranger Has Ever Done

You'd have thought that Nile Ranger's arrest and imprisonment at the age of 15 might have turned him away from a life of controversy, but having been given a second chance at Newcastle - signed by fellow bad-boy Dennis Wise no less - the gangly striker took it upon himself to upset as many authorities as possible. First he was arrested on suspicion of assault (found not guilty), then he was charged with being drunk and disorderly twice in Newcastle, and this came after he was cautioned by the club over his posing with a replica gun in a photograph. He's also been fined for homophobic comments on Twitter, arrested for assault several times and criminal damage and common assault, and then he annoyed his new club Swindon - who he joined after being released by Newcastle - with his disrespectful attitude, leading to him being sacked. Even after two sackings, he was again arrested for criminal damage (twice) and drew controversial attention for apparently punching a female companion in the face. The now Blackpool player has all but thrown away his talent - and it was once thought to be sizeable - thanks to a series of idiotic lifestyle choices, and an inability to moderate his temper, and he can probably look forward to a second rate career as a journeyman striker with a tarnished profile.
