Man Utd: 5 Reasons Wayne Rooney Should Be Made Captain

2. He€™s A Player That Will Be A Regular Next Season

One of the continuous problems with captains is they often stay in the team for their leadership qualities as much as their playing ability. There are rumblings to suggest that Moyes may look to make mass changes to the squad this summer in an attempt to reverse the downward spiral that the club is currently in. Obviously, this makes picking a captain a little bit difficult because it€™s hard to predict the makeup of the team next season. However, one thing we do know for sure is that Rooney will be in the starting side more often than not. Therefore, selecting him as the club captain seems a fairly safe bet at this point in time. The last thing that Moyes will want to do is select a captain that doesn€™t play in his starting eleven as much as he thinks they will. Once again, when the other factors are also taken into account; it€™s hard to create a particularly strong argument against Rooney. Of course, the fact that he has now clocked up so many games in the Premier League and for England strengthens his case further.
