Man Utd: 5 Reasons Wayne Rooney Should Be Made Captain

1. Rooney Has Matured And Now Settled At The Club

I wouldn€™t have suggested that Rooney should be made captain of Man United some years ago, because he wasn€™t in the right place to take on that level of responsibility. However, he is now 28 years old €“ which is an age that it€™s often thought that a lot of players start to reach their peak. It€™s a difficult one to evaluate €“ but Rooney has certainly done well this season. The new contract that he has signed, puts to bed the speculation over his future. Obviously, Moyes wouldn€™t want a captain that was unsettled at the club. I€™m sure Wayne is as frustrated as anyone over the season that United are having. However, the important factor is he now buys in to what the club are trying to do. Obviously, a lot has been spoken about regarding Sir Alex Ferguson€™s departure and the appointment of Moyes. It may well be though that Rooney has a better connection and relationship with Moyes than he ever did with Ferguson; Moyes certainly seems to be getting the best out of Rooney. So, this will be an interesting one to watch going into to next season. We all hope that Wayne has a strong World Cup and he may very well be the best choice to be the next permanent captain of Manchester United.
