2. David Ginola
Just one place shy off the of the list is the Gaellic wizard that was David Ginola. Yet another Frenchmen, Ginola was signed in a time Kevin Keegan was transforming Newcastle into a force in English football. He may have only been on Tyneside for two seasons, but he certainly left his mark, and had it not been for the sudden resignation of Keegan in 1997, he could have earned a legendary status at the club and remained their longer than he did. His flair didn't go unnoticed in world football either: a certain Barcelona approached Newcastle for the signature of Ginola, which the player himself turned down. His goal scoring ratio wasn't phenomenal but his lack of prolificness in front of goal was certainly made up elsewhere on the pitch.
