Newcastle Transfers: 5 Deadline Day Deals That COULD Happen

4. Gabriel Obertan To Leave On Loan

Speaking of surplus top requirement. Gabriel Obertan is the quintessential fringe player right now having fallen way, way down the pecking order at Newcastle. The former Manchester United winger has only played 36 minutes of Premier League football all season and recently stormed out of St James' Park after being told he would not play against Arsenal. And he has been on thin ice since then, as manager Alan Pardew hasn't given the Frenchman even the smallest of run-outs from the bench since those actions. It had earlier been reported that Obertan would seek a move away in January following his shortage of first-team opportunities, though he is still on the books. That might not be the case some tonight's 23:00 deadline, as he has been linked with a loan switch to his native France, where Ligue 1 outfit Evian are reportedly interested.
