Newcastle Transfers: 5 Deadline Day Deals That COULD Happen

5. Demba Ba Joins On Loan From Chelsea

Demba Ba was a cult figure at Newcastle United, scoring 29 goals in 54 appearances. However, following his move to Chelsea a year ago this month, he has fallen from grace. The Senegal striker has found life difficult at Stamford Bridge and has had to settle with being a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho, used mostly as a substitute. Ba has only played 11 minutes of Premier League football this year and it has been recently reported that the Magpies are lining up a move to re-sign the forward. Despite the arrival of Luuk de Jong, Newcastle still need another striker as on-loan Loic Remy may yet return to parent club QPR at the end of the season. And it has been suggested Chelsea would be prepared to loan Ba back to Newcastle - for £3 million. If the Blues decide Ba is deemed surplus to requirements, and Newcastle's interest is strong, a last-ditch bid could yet be made before the end of play.
