Newcastle Transfers: 5 Strikers To Replace Demba Ba

2. Andy Carroll

Carroll Since swapping St James Park for Anfield in 2011, Andy Carroll has constantly been linked with a move back to the club many say is home for him, especially after his tumultuous spell at Anfield where he failed to live up to his £35million price tag by scoring only eleven times during his first two seasons. Such was his poor form at Anfield that Liverpool stuck him out on loan at West Ham, and Alan Pardew is convinced the big Geordie will return to Newcastle one day. Pardew nearly re-signed Carroll in the summer when it became clear his immediate future was no longer on Merseyside, but was put off by Liverpool's offer of a permanent deal as the Magpies only wanted him on loan. Pardew said:
"He's a Geordie and I think he misses the city. This is his home and at some point I hope he does come back here. "Whether that's in my time, I don't know. I like him and I liked working with him. He was brilliant for me. "I thought there was a possibility of it happening in the summer. He brings something different to the table and we could do with another striker. We were right in there, but we weren't able to get it done.
Carroll's return to Newcastle would be the completion in a dramatic change in fortunes for the striker, who was red hot property prior to his move to Liverpool. Fan's would certainly love to see him back at St James Park though it probably wouldn't be until the summer at the earliest as Premier League rules state a player cannot play for three clubs in one season.
