Newcastle United's Greatest Foreign XI

3. Left Wing: David Ginola (France)

There surely doesn€™t need to be too much debate about this one, does there? He€™s undeniably €˜worth it€™ (or €œwurss eet€, as the great man would say). All fans of a certain age go a little bit misty-eyed (not to mention weak at the knees) when €˜Da-veed€™s€™ meticulously coiffured hair and Gallic shrugs are mentioned. Really though, he€™s perhaps the classic example of nostalgia trumping actual statistics. He only scored a handful of goals for the Toon, but ask any fan, and they€™ll tell you he scored every game. He never tracked back, letting wingers waltz past him with hands on hips, but why would you want him to? And come on, that goal against Ferencvaros must be worth about fifty tap-ins? Sheer temperamental class. Who wouldn€™t want to see him in the black and white again?
